How It All Began

Free

The Museum of Style Icons is no ordinary museum of fashion. It all began in 2006, with one dress. A short black dress designed by Givenchy and worn by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Charade (1963). Since then The Museum of Style Icons’ unique collection of historic garments has grown steadily, with one simple guiding principle – only the original piece will do!

It’s that uniqueness that makes your visit to the Museum of Style Icons so unforgettable. You are face-to-face with dresses, suits, outfits and accessories worn by actors, musicians and public figures on stage, on screen and in public. Hollywood Icons like Princess Grace of Monaco, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Angelina Jolie, global figures such as Princess Diana, Victoria Beckham, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Michael Caine and many more. These are just some of the icons behind our exhibits.

The Museum of Style Icons is open from 10am to 6pm, 7 days a week throughout the year and, with a full calendar of temporary and visiting exhibitions, there’s always something new to see.
Get Up Close & Personal with your favourite garment

Each piece on exhibition in the Museum of Style Icons is the original. Whether it’s Princess Diana’s notorious ‘Revenge Dress’, the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in the movie ‘Funny Face’, or The Beatles’ ‘Mop Top’ suits, each garment is the real McCoy. If you would like to examine one of the exhibits more closely, you can book an Up Close & Personal experience.

Museum personnel will meet you at the front door and escort you to the viewing area. Here they will remove the garment you have selected from its glass case, so that you can hold it and examine it more closely. Please note, special gloves must be worn when handling any of the museum’s garments and accessories.

Why not round off the experience with afternoon tea and a glass of Prosecco, as you sit back and imagine yourself back in the time and place that made the garment famous. Who is with you? Marilyn? Elvis? Princess Grace? Angelina Jolie?

When you’re making your booking, you’ll be shown a list of garments and icons to choose from.
